ABOUT US

Why choose Copes
At Copes Driving School, our aim is to keep the young people of the Sutherland Shire safe on our roads. Not just for their P’s, but with skills that will see them remain safe for a lifetime. We don’t focus on the driving test, but instead see our end goal as our clients staying safe so they can live to eventually teach their own grand-kids to drive.

Our cars have full dual controls including both brake and accelerator, which means we can always step in if needed.
We carry both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
We have a current Working With Children Check, with clearance number available upon request.
Our cars are modern cars with an ANCAP rating of 5 stars and include many of the new safety technologies available today.
Being a member of the NSW Driver Trainers Association means we are bound by an industry code of conduct.
About
Established in 2003, Copes Driving School has earned itself the reputation of being one of the best driving schools in the Sutherland Shire. Owner Anthony Cope has been recognised as one of the best instructors, not just in the shire, but in the country. As 1 of only 4 national coaches for the now defunct keys2drive program, he was charged with mentoring hundreds of other instructors from around Australia. He is so respected by his peers, that from 2010 to 2016 he was the President of the Australian Driver Trainers Association and from 2008 to 2018 the President of the NSW Driver Trainers Association.
Apart from the above experience, Anthony also has experience in the post licence driver training sector; the accreditation of driving instructors; conducting professional development for the driver training industry; presentations for school groups at various road safety programs as well as being a facilitator and coach and trainer of coaches, for the Safer Drivers Course, a course that he helped the NSW Government develop in an advisory role. You will not find a more experienced or qualified instructor in the Sutherland Shire.

Safer Drivers Course
20 Bonus Hours
Do you want to get a bonus 20 hours credit in your log book?
Do you want to learn more about safe driving behaviours and low risk driving strategies?
Enrol in the Safer Drivers Course For Learner Drivers with one of the RMS approved providers and you can get both of those things.
Here at Copes Driving School we work for a few of the local Sutherland Shire providers of the course by facilitating the in class module 1 session, and coaching for the in car module 2 session. As one of the first instructors trained in the state for both modules, you will not find a more experienced person working within the course anywhere.

3 for 1 Log Book Hours
3 for 1
Did you know that with Copes driving School, you can get 3 hours entered in your log book for every 1 hour driving lesson, up to the first 10 lessons. In 2009 the NSW government introduced the 3 for 1 scheme which allows driving instructors to accredit learner drivers with 3 log book hours for every hour they spend in a professional lesson, for the first 10 hours.
If you combine 10 lessons and the Safer Drivers Course, you are essentially getting 40 bonus hours in your log book while at the same time receiving quality driving and road safety education. So, for mums and dads, that means they may only need to spend a minimum of 70 hours supervising their learner driver themselves. Bonus!
